The Parish of Porth Newydd
Thanksgiving and Prayers for the Mission of the Church with Commissioing and Blessing of Steve Jones - 24th April 2005
On Sunday 24th April a Special service was held at St. Luke's, Llwyncelyn, Porth. In the service Steve Jones was Commissioned and Blessed before he serves on USPG's Experience Exchange Programme in Chile. Read about his journey HERE. The service was very moving and there were few dry eyes in the congregation and the commissioning team.
Please keep Steve, his family in Wales and his new "family" in Chile in your prayers.
The Commissioning and Blessing was conducted by Fr. Graham Lloyd and Fr. Elfed Hughes with Intercessions lead by Fr. Philip Leyshon.
Steve Jones says a most sincere "Thankyou" to everyone in Church who has supported him in prayer and encouraged him with their best wishes. He especially thanks the parish "family" for their gift of £659 to help him on his way (£449 from our "Smartie Tube" collection and £210 being 50% of the Lent Pauper's Lunch proceeds)

We also send our good wishes to Father Elfed Hughes who is taking up a position with the USPG in London. We have told him just how much we are going to miss him and he has promised to come home often.
