Open Churches Day - 17th September 2011
Churches all over Wales will throw open their doors on Saturday 17th September, 2011 and welcome members of the public.
Porth Newydd Benefice churches will be open as follows
St Paul's will be open from 10am to 4pm
Come along and visit the church and enjoy the refreshments. Learn about the church History. See if you can recognise some of the people on the photographs. From 11:00am to 12:00pm Children's story and workshop. Come along and enjoy some craft work. Enjoy some stunning flower arrangements. Book and Plant sale.
St Luke's will be open from 1pm to 4pm
Church Records will be on display, prayer stations will be set up giving you the opportunity to stay a while in this lovely little church.
St John's will be open from 9:30am to 3:30pm
There will be various displays, an opportunity to investigate family history through church records, discover the connection between the church and Cymmer Colliery and why this is a grade II listed building. The Hall will be open for refreshments and light lunches. There will also be a cake stall, book stall and children's corner.
These are the churches of your community. If you haven't visited for some time or have never been inside any of them then this is an opportunity to visit and explore in an informal way.
