Journey of a Lifetime with John Morgans

Porth United Reformed Church, Pontypridd Road provides an opportunity to share in the remarkable story of John Morgans on Thursday 26th February at 7.15pm. John Morgans was born and brought up in Tylorstown, where his family were members of Ebenezer Chapel. Called to the Christian ministry, he studied in Swansea, Oxford and the USA, before ministering in Llanidloes and Manselton and becoming Moderator of the Wales Synod of the United Reformed Church. In that capacity, he tried - with other church leaders - to broker a settlement to the miners' strike in South Wales. He then moved to live on the Penrhys estate, a mile and a half from his childhood home, and was minister of Llanfair Uniting Church, Penrhys for 15 years until he retired in 2004. His story is fascinating, and will be presented with pictures and John's passionate and humorous style. Copies of his book of the same title will be available on the night for £10 per copy. This is an open meeting to which all are welcome.
