Mothers' Union - Visit to Afon Taf High School - 6th June, 2005
On 6th June,2005 members of the Mothers' Union visited Afon Taf High School "House of Religions" to see how Religion is taught in Schools.
Five Mothers' Union members from both Churches in the Parish visited Afon Taf High School in Merthyr Tydfil. The Deputy head of that school is St. Lukes own organist, Sue Thomas. A Bungalow in the grounds has been converted into a "House of Religion". This is a multi-sensory centre for learning about certain aspects of the six major world religions. Each room has been decorated in the style of a specific of one religion and the experience of that religion is enriched by the use of artefacts and audio visual equipment. It was a really interesting visit, enhanced by the lovely cakes and tea which Sue provided. Thanks to the staff who made us really welcome.
