One of the first talks of the Mothers' Union meetings in 2005 came from Daisy Lowe. Have you heard the story about the crocodile that pushed a man to safety?. This was one of Daisy's extraordinary stories that she told us about her experiences following the Tsunami disaster. Daisy went to Sri Lanka, her homeland, immediately when she heard of the disaster. For seven weeks she worked to help those whose lives had been devastated and she intends to return to continue her work there in the coming months. Her hope is to buy some land on which to build houses for those whose homes were destroyed. Each house will cost in the region of £1,250. Daisy said that although the emrgency is over, there is still a lot of work to be done and our financial help is still needed.
It was good to hear at first hand how our efforts to raise and send money, food and clothing to the people of Sri Lanka had helped. She told us that the people of the Rhondda had been the most generous of those in the South Wales area. Click HERE to read about Tsumani fund raising.
We send Daisy every blessing on her work in Sri Lanka.
