Lay Pastoral Visitors Commissioning - 5th June, 2005
On 5th June, 2005, Bishop David Yeoman, Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of Llandaff, held a service in St John's Church, Cymmer to commission nine Lay Pastors.
On the morning of the 5th June Bishop David Yeoman lead a combined Parish Holy Eucharist Service as which those who had agreed to become Lay Parish Visitors were authorised. They had attended a listening and then a visiting course running over a number of weeks earlier this year. If you are unable to get out at present and would like a visit from one of our members please let the Vicar or Church Wardens know.
Bishop David Commissioned them, distributed their badges and during the final commissioning they were told
"be faithful in your ministry of visiting and bring the love of Jesus to all whom you meet"
Also, during the service the new Peoples Church Warden, Dawn Surrey, was admitted to office by Bishop David Yeoman

What are Lay Pastoral Visitors?
They are trained lay men and women who make regular calls on homebound parishioners, to visit them in the name of the congregation, to pray with them, to share information about what is happening at their Church, and to bring back to the clergy information about special needs.
