Jessica
Lloyd selected for the Wales Team
St John's own Jessica Lloyd (Ferndale Fillies) is the only valley footballer in the Welsh Squad.
Jessica was picked for the Welsh Development Squad from 60 girls at trials in Swansea. On 27th August the Welsh team beat Ireland 3-0 at the Northern Ireland International Football Festival. They lost 4-2 against Scotland who were the overall winners, but Jessica is delighted to have taken part. Jessica, a pupil at Porth County has been playing football from a young age, and was the only girl playing in Porth Under 11s.
Jessica took a break from football when she turned 11, but last season joined up with the Rhondda Fillies. Jessica's dad Andrew said "She's Coming on in leaps and bounds, it's surprising. The Street she grew up in was all boys and she got really interested in football".
