My
Confirmation
By Tomos Surrey
As some of you know I am a server in St Johns Church in Cymmer. I wanted to be confirmed because I didn't want to be the only server having a blessing and wanted to know how it felt having communion and to share in the worship with everyone else. I talked to mam and dad about it and they said yes so in July I went to confirmation classes taken by Fr Chris Lewis Jenkins. There were two other children there, Rhian and Rhys. It was great to have them there because we were going through the same work together and we were helping each other. I learnt a lot about the church and what it means to have communion.
On the 31st of October 20007 I was confirmed at Holy Trinity
Church in Tylorstown by Bishop David Yeoman. The Church was full and I was
so happy to see lots of people from St John's there to support me. My Nanna
from Penygraig came to the service and my Nain and Taid came from Tywyn in
North Wales, it was lovely to see them there. Before the service I felt very
nervous, but when I knelt in front of the Bishop as he confirmed me, I felt
very happy and proud that I could now have communion with the other servers
and the congregation and remember what Jesus did for us.
At the end of the service we had a lovely cup of tea and something to eat.
Father Andrew from Holy Trinity Church gave us a lovely mug each to remember
the special day.
I will never forget my confirmation and I will never forget what Jesus did for me.
Thank you very much for all my cards, presents and good
wishes from everyone in St John's and St Luke's. It was very kind of you all
to think of me and I'm very grateful.
